BELKYRA™ (Kybella) is a submental fat reduction injectable solution that is injected into subcutaneous fat tissue in the submental area under chin to improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat. It is non-invasive and non-surgical treatment to dissolve excess fat cells. A prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin, also called “double chin”.

Belkyra™ (Kybella) is packaged in disposable clear glass vials containing 2ml of sterile solution. The vials are intended for single use only. Each package comes with 4 vials and a product leaflet. Read the product leaflet thoroughly before use.

Ingredients

Belkyra™ (Kybella) is formulated with 10mg/ml of deoxycholic acid as the main ingredient. In addition, the formulation also contains a number of excipients, including benzyl alcohol, dibasic sodium phosphate, water for injections, sodium hydroxide and sodium chloride. Belkyra (Kybella) does not contain sucrose, tartrazine, lactose, azo dyes, or gluten.

Having cytolytic properties, deoxycholic acid induces cell lysis by physically disrupting the adipocyte plasma membrane. This subsequently attracts macrophages to the site of cellular destruction, helping to clear lipids and cellular debris. Fibroblast chemotaxis also occurs.

Use Instructions

How do I use or apply this product?

Prior to injection, make sure that the solution is clear and particulate-free. Inject Belkyra™ subcutaneously into the fat tissue in the submental region. Do not inject intramuscularly or intradermally. To reduce the risk of skin ulceration and intradermal exposure, do not withdraw the needle while injecting. The number of injections needed varies depending on the amount of submental fat. Some patients may require up to 50 injections in a single treatment. A single treatment should not exceed 50 injections.
The injection should only be carried out by qualified doctors who are suitably trained. You should only perform the treatment after ruling out other possible causes of submental convexity (such as cervical lymphadenopathy or thyromegaly).

When should I use this product?

Belkyra™ (Kybella) is specially formulated to treat double chin (i.e. submental fullness). Due to the cytolytic actions of deoxycholic acid, Belkyra™ effectively eliminates the fat pocket under the chin for a more contoured jawline and neck. Do not use if the injection site is infected.

Belkyra™ is designed to be used on the submental area to eliminate excess fat.

How long does the product last?

The duration of effects is permanent, so long as the patient maintains their weight. If there is weight gain, new fat cells may form. To achieve optimal results, repeat the treatment as needed. The recommended maximum number of treatments is 6. Treatments should be separated by a 4-week interval.
